Cough & Cold
The common cold is an upper respiratory tract infection caused by many different viruses.
The common cold is transmitted by virus-infected airborne droplets or by direct contact with infected secretions.
Symptoms of the common cold include :
• Cough
• Sore Throat
• Sneezing & coughing
• A runny nose
Being in cold weather does not cause the common cold, but cold weather promotes close contact. Antibiotics are not necessary for the common cold.
A cough is supposed to protect you. It gets out stuff that doesn't belong in your lungs and windpipe, like inhaled dirt or food. Here are the common triggers.
Viruses. Colds and the flu are the most common causes. While annoying, coughs that are “productive” get germy mucus out of your lungs when you're sick. Most will go away in a few days.
